And started leaning into what made me different — even when it felt random or weird at the time.

If you’re in middle school (or a parent reading this for your kid), here’s what actually moves the needle long-term:

📚 1. Find your study style early
Try flashcards, voice notes, or teaching someone else; anything that helps you actually understand. Studying isn’t about grinding more, it’s about learning smarter.

🧠 2. Follow what feels random
Love mythology? Coding? Baking? Dive into it. The most unique college apps often come from students who followed rabbit holes and turned them into something real.

📓 3. Keep a curiosity log
Write down questions, ideas, YouTube videos, anything that made you think. It’ll help you track your interests and turn them into real projects later.

👥 4. DM someone one step ahead
A high schooler, college student, or even someone on LinkedIn — just ask how they got started. Learning how to reach out and build relationships early is a cheat code.

🧩 5. Solve one small problem
What annoys you at school or in your community? Try fixing it, even if it’s tiny because action-takers always stand out in college apps.

This stuff matters more than you think.

Because when it’s time to apply to college, it’s not the student who did the most that stands out…
It’s the student who built the most meaningful story.
