Tipsy Scoop’s Founder Shows Us How to Make Boozy Ice-Cream at Home

On our latest episode of Bold Life, Tipsy Scoop’s founder Melissa Tavs showed us how to make strawberry rhubarb bourbon ice-cream using Four Roses Bourbon. See the ingredients and directions below. Ingredients:
8 Egg yolks
1.5 cups Milk
1.5 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup Sugar
2.5 lbs Strawberries
1 cup Four Roses Bourbon
1 tablespoon rhubarb bitters
1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract Sprinkles for garnish
Recipe:
1. In a medium-sized saucepan, add milk, heavy cream, and vanilla. Over medium heat, scald the mixture, removing the heat once the bubbles form.
2. In a large mixing bowl, add sugar and eggs and whisk until they turn a light yellow color- about 30 seconds-1 min.
3. Slowly pour the milk-cream mixture into egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly as your pour. Add milk/egg mixture back to the saucepan and warm over medium heat until the custard is thick.
4. Transfer to a heatproof container and let the custard cool in the fridge for 1 hour before adding additional ingredients.
5. Put strawberries and water and sugar into the blender until smooth. Then let it cool in the fridge before adding to custard.
6. Add strawberry mixture into custard and stir.
7. Add Four Roses bourbon and rhubarb bitters into custard and stir.
8. Add strawberry bourbon custard to ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions or until a gelato-like consistency
9. Transfer ice cream to the freezer for 6-8 hours before serving
For plating, find a cute old fashioned ice cream soda fountain cup and scoop two scoops strawberry rhubarb bourbon ice cream in a cup. Top with rainbow sprinkles and sliced strawberries. Enjoy responsibly!
