At the edge of the room, far enough to be ignored but close enough to hear every word, stood Staff Sergeant Riley Monroe. Thirty-four. Civilian contractor now. Former Army sniper. She didn’t move, didn’t flinch, didn’t react. Her calmness only made their irritation grow. A Ranger scoffed that she would cry if someone handed her a real rifle.
