Описание: The Supreme court heard arguments today about the constitutionality of Alabama's republican-drawn congressional map.

Conservative Justices Alito, Coney Barrett, and Kavanaugh inquired whether to weaken the 1965 Voting Rights Act by making it harder for groups to bring voting rights claims in the future.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was more than candid about defending the current law as conservative Justices leaned toward the race-neutral arguments.

This move would give states more headway to prove that additional districts where minority voters could elect the candidates of their choice do not need to be drawn.
