This series on masking has shown you all the masking tools in ON1. Several times, I’ve mentioned you can use the tools together to fine tune your mask and make it just right. Does it matter what order masking tools are applied in ON1? Yes, it does. Some of the masking tools will replace your entire mask when you use the tool.

Here is my 3-step recommended order for the masking tools:
First, use the AI Quick Mask, Color Range Mask, Luminosity Mask, Sky Swap AI to get the bulk of your mask
Second, use either the Masking Bug or the Line Mask to adjust the mask
Third, use the Masking Brush, Perfect Brush, or Custom Brushes to fine tune the mask

In this video, I’ll show you some examples of combining the masking tools for intricate masks without too much heavy work.
