In this video, Drs. Nicole Gauthier and April Lamb, Extension Plant Pathologists discuss disease management through cultural practices. IPM programs require that cultural practices become a regular part of disease prevention and management. Whether in high tunnels or open fields, cultural practices should be used with or without fungicides.
Cultural practices that help manage plant diseases of high tunnel tomato include use of resistant or tolerant cultivars, crop rotation, tillage or cover crops, mulching, air circulation, plant spacing, humidity reduction, sanitation, worker hygiene, pruning and rogueing diseased plants, hauling away debris, scouting, and record keeping.
