The Spark Award stands for the most promising invention, which ETH Zurich filed for a patent in the previous year. The presented technology is the winner of the Spark Award 2023.
The video features Marco F. D’Elia, Walter Caseri and Markus Niederberger from the Department of Materials (D-MATL) and Mirko Magni and Stefano Trasatti from the Università degli Studi di Milano. They invented a polymer-based anticorrosion coating, which is recyclable, self-repairing, and fluoresces for easy damage inspection.
