Girinar or Girnar is one of the most ancient Jain Tirtha kshetras (sacred hill temples) and Hindu kshetras in India. It is part of Junagadh town and district in south-western Gujarat, India. The 22nd Tirthankara Neminath attained nirvana at Girnar. Lord Dattatreya performed penance at the top of the hill. People have to climb 10,000 (ten thousand) steps to have Neminath/Datta paduka darshan.[clarification needed
