Peddi is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language periodic sports action drama film starring Ram Charan in the titular role. Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film features Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead and is officially scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 4 June 2026.
Mounted on a massive budget of approximately ₹350 crore, Peddi is produced under Vriddhi Cinemas and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The movie is designed as a large-scale cinematic experience blending sports, action, emotion, and rural drama with high production values and powerful storytelling.
Set in the 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh, specifically in the Vizianagaram district, the story revolves around a spirited villager named Peddi, played by Ram Charan. A naturally gifted athlete, Peddi excels in multiple sports including wrestling and cricket, using his talent to earn a living and support his people. However, when a powerful and jealous local landlord begins threatening the dignity and future of his village, Peddi transforms sports into a weapon of resistance.
The film explores themes of pride, courage, struggle, social oppression, and the fighting spirit of ordinary people. Through intense sporting confrontations and emotional conflict, Peddi rises from being a simple villager to becoming a symbol of strength and hope for his community.
Ram Charan is expected to appear in one of his most physically demanding roles, showcasing multiple transformations across different sports disciplines. From rugged village cricketer to powerful wrestler known as “Peddi Pehelwan”, the character promises a highly energetic and massy performance packed with emotion and action.
Janhvi Kapoor plays Achiyyamma, a charming village belle whose emotional connection with Peddi adds warmth and emotional depth to the story. The film also features a strong ensemble cast including Shiva Rajkumar as Gournaidu, Divyendu Sharma as Ram Bujji, along with Jagapathi Babu and Boman Irani in crucial supporting roles.
One of the film’s biggest highlights is its music composed by legendary composer A. R. Rahman.
