Container Terminal Burchardkai, CTB, is automating the container yard in a groundbreaking project that stands for technological, logistical, and environmental viability. They chose to transform their yard operations from manually operated straddle carriers to electrical automated stacking cranes, achieving increased capacity by efficiently using space while at the same time reducing emissions. A unique concept of three stacking cranes in the same block has been developed together with ABB to maximize productivity and benefit from the shape of the terminal.
