Описание: In this adventure, we start our journey by hitchhiking out of Tozeur, heading toward Douz. Amine can't help but laugh at our situation as we stand at the side of the road, waiting for our next ride. We brace ourselves for a long wait that could stretch anywhere from half an hour to two hours. As time ticks by, we finally manage to secure a ride, heading toward a place called Qibilī, where we’ll be able to catch another ride toward our final destination. The driver was kind enough to give us some good directions, and after a short stop, we’re back on the road again.

After some time, we reach our first ride’s destination and find ourselves in an area called Souk Lahad. Here, we pick up some food and continue hitchhiking toward Douz. Along the way, we catch another ride from some super nice locals, who drop us off at the next stop, Qibilī. We’re now waiting for another ride, but Douz is still in sight, and we’re just one step closer.

Once we get to Douz, we make a quick stop for coffee before heading toward our next destination: Matmata. For a while, it feels like we’ve hit a bit of a snag, with the cars passing by but not picking us up. It’s been a couple of hours and we’re still stuck in the same spot. Some cars are full, others aren’t heading in the right direction, and we’re starting to feel the frustration. But, as luck would have it, we get another ride and move forward with renewed energy.

By the time we’re approaching Matmata, we stop and marvel at the view. It’s a small town, with a modest population of around 2,000, and the vibe is entirely different from the big city chaos. After some time waiting by the road, we finally find someone who’s willing to give us a ride to our destination. From here, we’re just a short journey away from the filming location of Luke Skywalker’s home in Star Wars and we can’t wait to explore.

We make our way to the iconic location and it’s truly surreal. The excitement is palpable as we see the very building where Star Wars’ famous Tatooine scenes were filmed. We take in the surroundings, appreciating the authentic Tunisian experience. The best part? We’re actually standing in Luke Skywalker’s home!

But the adventure doesn’t end there. As the day turns to night, we stumble upon an abandoned hotel and decide to explore. There’s something eerie yet intriguing about it. We wander around, looking for a place to rest, and as we check out the rooms, we discover it’s not quite as abandoned as we thought. The locals are friendly and helpful, and we end up securing a room for the night for a much cheaper price than originally offered at the local cave hotel.

The next morning, we wake up and head to the Star Wars Museum to check out some amazing Star Wars memorabilia. Though it’s a small museum, it’s filled with fascinating items, including pictures from the movies, documents, and scripts. Even if we couldn’t see everything, it was definitely a cool experience to be in a place so rich in movie history.

Finally, we find ourselves in the guesthouse in Tataouine, a traditional Berber-style place. Here, we meet our host family, who welcome us with open arms, sharing traditional Tunisian tea with almonds and letting us interact with their adorable sheep. The hospitality is beyond warm and we take time to relax before going out to explore Tataouine.

This journey has been filled with spontaneous moments, a fair share of waiting, and some unexpected discoveries, but every moment has been worthwhile. From hitchhiking through remote areas to finally setting foot in Tataouine, it’s all been part of an unforgettable adventure that will leave us with stories to tell for years to come.
