EV Caravan Tour of Scotland Pt3: Cost & speed of charging, and Mull to Oban

Описание: Part 3 of my Tour of Scotland with an EV towing a caravan. With my Kia EV6 I'm heading from my home in the Outer Hebrides to mainland Scotland to see what touring with an EV is like in the real world. As this is my first time, we are taking Baby Steps and making sure we stay well within the range of the EV6 so we don't get stuck. As confidence builds, so will the mileage between campsites.

In this episode we start off at one of my favourite campsites ever, Killiechronan Campsite in the Isle of Mull. Unfortunately the weather is rough and we don't see it at its best.

From Killiechronan we drive to Craignure and I talk about how long it takes to charge an EV, both on AC and on DC, and what the difference is between AC and DC (rapid, or ultra-rapid) charging. The Kia EV can charge at a phenomenal rate where the charger allows.

We sail from Craignure to Oban with Calmac Ferries aboard the MV Isle of Mull, and we catch sight of the MV Isle of Lewis on her way to the Isle of Barra.

In Oban we head to North Ledaig Caravan Park, affiliated to the Caravan and Motorhome Club. For more details about North Ledaig, please see:

After a lovely walk up Beinn Lora and a stunning sunset, we then hitch up and head North to Bunree CAMC site in Onich. En route I talk about the cost of charging so far.

I missed out Arisaig when calculating the average price of a kW/h so far, but as this was 25p it won't make much difference to the mean value of 27p - it would have made it very slightly less.

Please note that while viewers from across the world are more than welcome, this video is aimed at a UK audience. The Kia EV6 specifications and units of measurement all apply to the UK spec and are given in UK measurements. I appreciate that some markets prefer the stats to be given in metric units, but there is a lot of YouTube content from across Europe where this is already given, and us Brits have to do the conversions to imperial for ourselves... ;)
