Few know how important this collection of pieces is and has been in my life. Not only have I enjoyed playing it and working on it countless times in my classes, it has also served as a source of inspiration for me to consolidate my musical thinking in relation to music writing. Also, the first piece of this collection has been one of my favorite encores in recent years.

The appearance of excellent composers who are also excellent pianists has allowed, in many cases, for us pianists to experience again the pleasure of well-written music for the instrument. "Well-written" in quotes, of course: music that, through an idiomatic writing, produces a pleasure that we recognize and appreciate.

In the case of this work, this musical writing incorporates elements of freedom that are, from my point of view, a gift for the performers. In ideas that are presented in this work and a thousand other possibilities related to them, is for me one of the keys to a respectful writing, specially thinking of the person who is going to perform the music, and an encouraging future for us performers dedicated to new music.

And I haven't even begun to talk about what is fundamental in this work: its beauty, its imagination, its intuition. For me, a masterpiece: a collection of short pieces with a certain schumannian air fundamental in my repertoire.

Pocos saben lo importe que es y ha sido esta colección de piezas en mi vida. No solo he disfrutado interpretándola y trabajándola innumerables veces en mis clases, también me ha servido como fuente de inspiración para consolidar mi pensamiento musical en relación con la escritura musical. Además, la primera pieza de esta colección ha sido uno de mis bises favoritos en estos últimos años.

La aparición de excelentes compositores que también son excelentes pianistas ha permitido, en muchos casos, que los pianistas volvamos a experimentar el placer de una música bien escrita para el instrumento. "Bien" entre comillas, claro: música que a través de una escritura idiomática produce un placer que reconocemos y que apreciamos.

En el caso de esta obra, esta escritura musical incorpora elementos de libertad que son, desde mi punto de vista, un regalo para los intérpretes. En ideas que se presentan en esta obra y mil posibilidades más relacionadas con ellas está para mi una de las claves de una escritura respetuosa con la persona que va a interpretar la música; y un futuro alentador para los intérpretes que nos dedicamos a la nueva música.

Y ni siquiera he empezado a hablar de lo fundamental en esta obra: su belleza, su imaginación, su intuición. Para mí, una obra maestra: una colección de piezas breves con cierto hálito schumanniano fundamental en mi repertorio.
