We are taking an RV cross country road trip adventure for the first time, from California to Key West and back.
We are heading back west and taking Route 66, a drive I have wanted to do for a long time. My original dream was to drive our old Nash Rambler the entire route, but this opportunity came up and I'm pretty sure this was the better way of doing it.
Most of the time we drove Interstate 40, taking exits to see the remains of Route 66 based on a list I had made.
Our stops were:
00:25 Route 66 Museum - Clinton OK
03:30 Route 66 Passport
04:03 Shamrock Texas & the U Drop Inn
06:11 McLean Texas & 1929 Phillips Gas Station
07:10 Conway Texas & Slug Bug Ranch
07:50 Amarillo Texas & The Big Texan Steak Ranch
09:17 Cadillac Ranch
11:14 WhatABurger
11:30 Adrian Texas & Bent Door Gas Station - MidPoint Cafe - Midpoint Route 66
13:18 First Stop or Last Stop Motel Glenrio Texas
I wasn't as impressed with some of the stops, it was more of the obscure abandoned building that I enjoyed seeing and picturing them back in their hay day.
