Colours: all by Renesans Polska, aureolin, red ochre ( you can sub with burnt Sienna), cobalt blue, ultramarine blue
Brushes : n.2,.6, 8, 10 round, n. 18 flat

Other materials: tissue paper, water, a sponge.

TECHNIQUE

This tutorial is all about water control, both in the first part which is wet in wet,and in the second one, when you paint the second layer of the background and soften the colours towards the flame.
First of all, wet the paper but leave dry the space around the flame. Then blend in the colours as much as possible as we want to obtain a smooth transition from light to dark.
The body of the candle and the foregroung are painted almost all wet on dry, the details of the window and the trees are put in with this technique. Be sure to create different shadows of purple/aubergin/gray/brown mixing together cobalt blue and red ochre or burnt Sienna. This watercolor is a good example of how to master a limited palette and how to master colour mix consistency: if they are too diluted, you will get unwanted blooms.

Colori: tutti Renesans Polska, aureolina, ocra rossa ( sostituibile con terra di Siena bruciata, blu cobalto e oltremare.
Pennelli : n.2,.6, 8, 10 tondi, n. 18 piatto

Altri materiali: carta da cucina, acqua, una spugna.

TECNICA

Questo acquerello è molto utile per imparare a gestire il controllo dell'acqua nel bagnato su bagnato. All'inizio bagnate con una spugna il foglio lasciando asciutta la parte della fiamma, cominciate a lavorare sfumando bene i colori tra di loro. Quando la prima parte del fondo sarà asciutta procedete con la seconda velatura, lavorando in parte bagnato su asciutto in parte bagnato su bagnato, sfumando bene i colori in prossimità della fiamma della candela. Il resto dell'acquerello è quasi tutto asciutto su bagnato, sia per quanto concerne la candela che i dettagli della finestra e gli alberi.
Visto che abbiamo solo 4 colori nella nostra tavolozza, dosate tra di loro il blu cobalto e la terra di Siena per ottenere i vari toni di marrone/grigio/ melanzana o porpora scuro. Fate attenzione anche alla consistenza delle miscele, che dovrà essere omogenea per evitare la comparsa di fioriture indesiderate. In questo tutorial ci focalizziamo:
