00:00 Pre-battle Statistics
00:13 Generals speech
01:30 Deployment phase
01:35 I remembered to move the bloody onagers this time T.T
01:56 Battle start - Organising and maintaining defensive posture
05:01 LOOK, THEY'RE MOVING OUT OF THE DITCH INSTEAD OF JUST HAMMERING IN STRAIGHT ON
05:52 The look of that artillery was too juicy to pass up
07:02 Do you see them shooting rocks at the cav in response to the charge?
08:00 This next minute or so is probably one of the best back and fourth, small scale cavalry battles you'll see against the Ai
08:02 Look the Ai can see it has an up hill advantage so it takes a swing at my own cavalry
08:17 Equite's beating back both Roman cav units with the help of light auxilia
08:20 Ai actually forces a withdraw then presses the attack while it has momentum
08:32 You can see the downhill disadvantage was little too much for that roman cavalry unit and Ai actually called in help from nearby units assist in TRYING to win
08:43 You see the Equite's rout here but it ain't over yet. Ai wants another piece not too soon after
09:16 The moment they regroup and they turn around to face a single roman cavalry unit and the other one is busy with a ballista unit
09:31 In pre-remaster Rome TW, sloppy charges like these are punished and justly so
09:45 Julii roman cavalry reach breaking point
10:10 Brutii main battle line marches on
10:22 I just wanted to see if four trees lined up neat could count as a hiding spot. It don't
10:33 You might see some onager fire in a moment - you can even see the experience of the onager crews making a difference
11:47 LOOK AT THE BRUTII ARMY NOT SITTING UNDERNEATH ONAGER FIRE AND WAITING FOR THE AFTERLIFE
12:10 Brutii battleline closes to pila range
12:30 Brutii call for full retreat after getting wrecked by pila and archers
12:36 Look at these two Brutii infantry units being cheeky and aiming for some kills - They actually chain the hill advantage on one flank as cav charge in
13:55 Roman cavalry picking up some table scraps
14:54 Perfect one two punch here
16:15 General finishes off a praetorian unit
17:12 Post battle statistics
Battle Notes: While the over all battle was rather one sided in the end, that cavalry back and forth in the early part of the battle was epic and I can't help but compare every aspect of R:TW against the post-RR:TW but it's just so infinitely better in all of the little details. On remaster the cavalry duel wouldn't have happened. The light auxilia would have broken on contact and the Brutii general likely wouldn't have even tried charging. Likely would have sat still while his skirmish units got melted. There are video's in my Scipii and Gaul camapigns where you can see it happen too.
Campaign Notes: This battle marks the start of the serious push back in Germania. Most of their heavily season armies are east of Germania, in sythia and I'm soon going to be facing them. I retreated from Vicus Gothii to avoid a one sided slaughter of my forces but soon it will be time to take it back and ignite a push through eastern Europe and into the steppes. Thus far I've managed to keep the Scipii contained in Africa, avoiding a direct confrontation with them for the most part. And a good thing too. That gold armour and weapon upgrade is no joke.
