This is a second part to the previous video(s) of the Jim Steinman J-Pop singles released by Miki Asakura, Megumi Shiina and Miyuki Maruyama. This part isn't entirely J-Pop as the third track is by Lai-Yui Lee from Hong Kong, but seeing as there isn't really any other compilation that track would fit within, I've included it here. I should also note that the SAINT FOUR recording of 'Rock and Roll Dreams' technically isn't a single, but just a studio track, but I like to keep the names across my videos consistent so... (It's also worth noting an extended version of the SAINT FOUR recording exists.)
00:00:00 葛城ユキ - ヒーロー (Yuki Kasturagi - Hero)
00:04:24 セイントフォー (SAINT FOUR - Rock 'N' Roll Dreams Come Through)
00:09:37 李麗蕊 - 傷心天使 (Lai-Yui Lee - Heartbroken Angel)
00:14:13 椎名恵 - (Megumi Shiina - Good Girls Go To Heaven But Bad Girls Go Everywhere) [English Version]
These recordings (i.m.o.) aren't as good as the other 4, but the version of 'Hero' here actually pre-dates the Miki Asakura release by about five months, coming out in July 1984, with a vocalist rather reminiscent of Bonnie Tyler. I also really love the callback to the original version of 'Rock and Roll Dreams' at the end of the aforementioned SAINT FOUR cover that's included here. With all that said, as always, enjoy, and stay tuned for the next few uploads! (P.S. - Massive thanks to Gary Haldane and those on the Steinman Discord for tracking these down, it is much appreciated!)
Note: Originally I forgot to add the English recording by Megumi Shiina of 'Good Girls' into this video, but I have amended this. Sadly we know little of this recording except that it dates to the 1990s, probably before the release of Bat Out Of Hell II. There are other Japanese recordings out there of Steinman songs, and while my focus lies mainly on the 80s and 90s, I may have to make a third part of this at some point to cover the eras beyond.
