Описание: Astronomers from the University of Bern and Geneva Observatory have identified four different classes of planetary system architectures: similar, mixed, anti-ordered, and ordered. The research, based on observations with NASA's Kepler space telescope, found that most planets in other systems resemble their neighbors in size and mass, and the team aimed to develop a framework to determine the differences and similarities between planets in the same system. The most common type of architecture is the "similar" planetary system, found in eight out of ten planetary systems around visible stars at night. The "ordered" architecture, which includes the Solar System, is the rarest class, and it links the initial conditions of planetary and stellar formation to a measurable property: the system architecture. This research is described in two papers in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics.
