Today I am talking to Ven. Hong Xiang, who is a PhD candidate at the Centre of Buddhist Studies at Hong Kong University, and also a visiting student here in Cambridge. He talks about how he became a monk and how his mother shaped his education for him and his twin brother even after they had become monks. He also talks about his research on Fazhao, the 4th patriarch of the Pure Land School, pointing out how uniquely open minded the master was.
