Puff embroidery, also known as 3D embroidery, is a fun way to add a unique twist to your embroidery.

You can do 3D embroidery on fashion type designs or traditional logos.

Now to do puff embroidery the first thing you'll need is the foam.

Find the foam that most closely matches the color or colors of thread that you are using.

Then, you will place the foam on top of the hat before your design sews out. Basically you want the embroidery on top of the foam. This is what is going to give you that 3D effect.

When you have finished sewing out your design, you can remove the excess foam.

Now your custom hat is complete, but here is a tip for making the finished product look super crisp and fresh.

We like to use a heat gun over the embroidered design, and this will slightly shrink the foam so there won't be any pieces sticking out.
