The political slugfest over the Rafale fighter jet deal is attaining bigger proportions with each passing day. Facing attack from the Opposition parties for misleading the country's top court for winning a favourable verdict, the BJP on Dec 17th launched a counter-offensive against Rahul Gandhi, moving a privilege motion against him in Parliament. The Congress, on the other hand, is trying its best to keep the fire over the Rafale deal alive in the run up to the 2019 general election. In the Rajya Sabha, the leader of the Opposition Salman Khurshid moved a privilege motion against Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for misleading Supreme Court, even as the Left parties demanded the removal of attorney general KK Venugopal for his lapses.
