🏔 Location
Planibel Residence sits just 0.3 miles from the center of La Thuile, at 1,441m altitude. It’s the perfect base whether you’re visiting in winter for skiing or in summer for mountain adventures. The complex has a small supermarket and the town a number of excellent restaurants, ski shops and an amazing little chocolate shop!

⛷ Ski Area – San Bernardo
From La Thuile, you can access the San Bernardo ski area:
• 81 ski slopes across Italy and France
• 38 lifts, all covered under one lift pass
• Ski-in, ski-out apartments, with just a 3–5 minute walk to the Bosco Express chair lift, Les Suches gondola, and ski school meeting point.

For us the number one benefit was this is mostly chair lifts and NOT button lifts! There are a couple of buttons but expect to be mostly sitting back, resting your feet and enjoying the view when moving between runs.

🏨 Accommodation Options
• Hotel: Half-board available
• Apartments: Studios to 2-bed units, all with kitchenettes (fridge, microwave, kettle, and kitchenware).
Note: No toaster, washing-up equipment, or extra bin bags provided.
We’ve only ever stayed in the apartment, although our friends who joined us highly recommended the hotel also.

🌟 Amenities
• Reception for both hotel & apartments
• Swimming pool (free for hotel guests; ~€40 charge for apartment guests, family of 3) - note you can’t enter without a swim cap!
• Bar/lounge with evening entertainment & live sports
• Restaurant La Raclette for budget-friendly meals onsite
• Spa & wellness centre (fitness centre removed in 2022)

📋 Check-in / Check-out
• Check-in: 5 PM, slower process with separate desks, if travelling with Crystal get right off the bus and head up to reception ahead of the crowds if you can (I leave the hubby to sort the bags)
• Check-out: Quick & simple (drop key cards at reception)

👩‍💼 Staff
Staff can be hit-or-miss, but persistence helps. During our 2023 stay, a free room upgrade was offered after raising an issue about noise of the lifts next to our room.

👶 Crystal Kids Club Highlights
• Beanie Club - Sessions: 8:15 AM – 2 PM or 5 PM, with flexible extensions from the 2pm pick up slot
• Lunch buffet: pizza, pasta, burgers & more
• Activities: sledging, crafts, pyjama party
• Amazing English-speaking staff (many return each year)
• Ski equipment included in the Beanie package alongside the lessons - lessons start at 9am, 10am for the beginners and the Crystal staff sort everything
• Professional photos available for purchase from ski lessons

Planibel Residence is an excellent choice for ski lovers wanting easy access to the San Bernardo ski area. With ski-in/ski-out convenience, flexible accommodation, and great amenities, it’s a strong option for both families and couples looking for a memorable holiday in La Thuile.
