A rare treat at Carlisle today - the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express double-headed by Sir William Stanier's Jubilee 45690 Leander and Oliver Bullied's Battle of Britain class light Pacific, 34067 Tangmere.
Although storm Malik was wreaking havoc - the Tyne Valley line was closed completely as a result of storm damage - the CME was able to carry out her full programme, travelling north over Shap and returning via the Settle and Carlisle line.
It must have been wild up in the high fells but the clear air would have given the passengers spectacular views.
It was good to meet so many old friends - and to make new ones.
