More than 15 explosions were heard across Kharg Island during the US attack on Iran’s primary oil-export hub, according to Iran’s semiofficial Fars News Agency. The agency said the strikes appeared to target several sites, including army air-defense systems, a naval base, the airport control tower and a helicopter hangar. Witnesses cited by Fars said thick smoke was rising from parts of the island, but oil infrastructure wasn’t damaged, the outlet said.
Trump announced the operation was a success, with the US military destroying all military targets on “Iran’s crown jewel”, in a post on Truth Social.
