Abalone are a herbivorous algae eating machine, think of a ringed cowry on steroids and your in the right ball park.
Reaching approximately 7cm in length they're fairly large allowing them to consume a lot of algae, if lots of rock is present they should be able to find enough food to graze on without any problems, if you feel that natural food may be lacking you can supplement their diet with dried algae sheets.
