The long journey from Islamabad to the Hunza valley deep in the Karakorum, flying along the 7788 metre Rakaposhi, thermalling to over 6000 metres deep amongst the glaciers, heavy landings in the thin air, reaching over 100km/h ground speeds after crossing a high col, camping "vol biv" on a grassy spur, then deteriorating weather with low cloud and showers. Featuring the final vol biv with Phil (my former instructor), where we camped above the Barpu glacier, probably the most enjoyable flying of the short trip to Pakistan.
