It is often translated as bride price items, but culturally it’s more about honor, appreciation, and formal introduction between both families.

Dear Yoruba brides to be, in case you or your family doesn’t know the list of items your groom and his family needs to bring for the traditional wedding, here is a standard list that I have compiled below, you can always use this. Kindly note that some families come together to adjust this list if it’s not in their capacity to buy all, and you as the bride can work with them on things that are personally for you, so they don’t waste money buying tons of Ankara for you or things you don’t need. I even think we are in the generation where some brides swap Ankara for wigs🤭😂 so speak up!
