On April 3, 2025, the Seattle Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs and Northwest Immigrant Rights Project hosted a second service providers' training on immigration at the Seattle Public Library.
This training was for service providers working with immigrant and refugee communities in Seattle. Similar to the first training session, with presentations by NWIRP executive director Malou Chavez and Directing Attorney Henry Hwang, we covered the following topics:
1. Immigration Policy Changes: An update on the immigration policies implemented by the Trump administration and their continued impact on immigrant communities.
2. Local Laws & Policies: An overview of the laws and policies in place in Washington State and the City of Seattle that protect immigrant and refugee residents and workers.
3. Best practices: An overview of best practices for service providers to effectively serve and protect their immigrant and refugee clients.
