The Persian or Arabian Gulf is a large area of ​​shallow marine waters located between the Iranian Plateau and the Arabian Peninsula. 90 years ago in that area, hydrocarbon deposits were discovered that over time spread to all the countries in the area, which are eight in the Gulf. The production of oil and natural gas in this region represents almost a third of the world total, and many economic activities that take place almost all over the world depend on it. This Gulf, whose importance has grown over time, is an almost closed sea, and has access to the ocean in only one place, the Strait of Hormuz. In this video I will try to describe the characteristics and geopolitical role of this gulf-sea, taking advantage of my experiences in this region where I worked as a geologist and lived for some years with my family.
