Behold! The culmination of a day’s worth of music making, a week’s worth of pixel art drawing, and a month’s worth putting off editing!! I’ve wanted to make a BIG SHOT cover ever since CHAPTER 2 RELEASED IN 2021 and suffice to say it’s been enough time since then. I’ve tried several times in the past, but nothing ever was really good enough. UNTIL NOW :D Now I think I can truly say I’ve done my favorite Deltarune character justice with his boss music.

Funnily enough, I made this cover on a whim because I was procrastinating doing schoolwork (I do not condone this behavior) and I heard NuwuZero's cover of Deadringer and thought “Hey what if I used an electronic drum kit with a soundfont guitar to do a Big Shot cover?” Then, I just kept going for a few hours until I had covered the whole thing from memory :D I’m actually super proud of how it turned out. I really tried to go hard with the whole train motif of Spamton’s boss battle (and its various interpretations) by doing things like using the Tubular Bell to sound like a train crossing noise :P

Of course, I had to use samples from The Stupendium’s Ad Infititum Spamton song especially after hearing them get used in The Winterer’s cover of Big Shot (definitely the biggest inspo for the vid). Also used a couple clips from Maxxor’s Incorrect Summary of Ultrakill because hey it’s really damn funny. And Kitchen Gun. Gotta have the Kitchen Gun.

Anyways, that was OVER A MONTH AGO. I started late in November and have been putting off animating and editing this video for weeks, but now as a celebration of the end of the year, I thought I’d finally finish it! If you don’t know, I’ve never had a proper video format nailed down. My videos are all rushed and imperfect, so if you’re struggling to make something “good enough” to share, let my early stuff be the low bar for you. However! I really wanted to put effort into this one to do the song justice because of how happy I was with it. I made the whole background from scratch and animated the entire thing in DaVinci Resolve (I don’t recommend recreating 3D environments without any 3D tools). I experimented with a lot of stock DaVinci Resolve effects and generators with my cover of TV Time but here I think I really dialed (get it?) it up. Long story short, I might use this particular format going forward. Or not. Depends on how I feel in the moment.
