Millions of people in Nepal have gone to the polls to vote for a new parliament and seven provincial assemblies. This comes as the nation prepares to shift from a monarchy-based system to a democracy. Over 15 million eligible voters can vote for Nepal's 275-member legislature, the first under a new constitution which was agreed to after years of conflict. The second phase of the election is scheduled to take place on December 7. Candidates have reportedly used a range of methods to reach out to voters in hard-to-access or remote areas. Many voters have expressed their expectations over the elections.
