Reading a book and modeling PODD

Описание: Harper and I are sitting down to read a book! I set this up because I wanted to show you all how you can model just using the first page of the book or device! Of course we used some basic pathways and Harper was talking up a storm at the end going all over the PODD.

I couldn’t figure out why she was saying the monster was hungry and then it hit me... push the button — that’s how most of us eat around this house! She figures this was all about the button on his feeding pump.

Took us a bit after we turned off the camera but then we got it! I modeled for her how tube feeding is under heath and sickness.

I’ve had a few families that asked why we keep the food and eating sections in the book for individuals who do not eat by mouth. Well, we still talk about food all the time even if we aren’t eating it! Food is a huge part of life and a very social element in our culture. We still need access to the words even if they don’t always apply to us.

I also love how this clip shows how the transition from high tech to light tech and different language levels and the back and forth is seamless. Harper often prefers light tech as do most of my kids but we are working on giving Harper more and more exposure to high tech. She does a great job!
