TCON Explanation:
The TCON is the onboard Timing Controller within an LCD panel. In this case, the Hisense U88G (Hisense U8G) has a TCON hotfix update that enables better motion handling to reduce or eliminate ghosting while playing certain intensive gaming titles. This is only available on the 65" Hisense U88G and Hisense U8G.

Well, guess what folks... I got pretty much everything on my wish list! The Hisense U88G (Hisense U8G) is a 65" Quantum Dot 4K TV with more features than I honestly know what to do with. At 1,500 nits of peak brightness in HDR content, it is among the brightest TVs currently available in this pricing category. Not only that, but it is "Future Proof" for lack of a better term, thanks to its dual HDMI 2.1 ports and next-generation must-have features. Now I've spent the better part of a month or so using this TV daily and nightly in my office and I have to say that I am not in the least bit disappointed. My Xbox Series X looks amazing in 4K 120FPS and remains buttery-smooth thanks to VVR and ALLM. My PS5 remains for now locked down to 60FPS until the upcoming VRR firmware patch later on this year. As for movies, I have my Apple TV 4K routed in and everything just simply comes to life. Dolby Vision is displayed beautifully and the new onboard processor in the Hisense U88G makes motion enhancements actually tangible this year. Film mode in 24p content looks stunning, and I actually even turn on further smoothing depending on the content.

Dolby Atmos passthrough is also here, which has brought more life into my older AVR via eARC as well. The change at first felt subtle until I stopped and noticed just how more directional the sound stage was with my 5.2.2 surround sound setup.

Overall, I've really enjoyed my experience with my Hisense U88G. For its price, I honestly don't think it can be beaten with all the features it has to offer. I'm sure there may be better panels out there in one way or another, but I can guarantee that there is nothing within a large margin of this display that does everything it does and does it this well.
