How Tawbah Destroys Your Shame Spiral | Ibn Arabi

Описание: This video delves into Ibn Arabi's profound mystical understanding of tawbah (repentance/return) not as mere regret or self-punishment, but as a radical turning that shatters the shame spiral trapping the soul in endless cycles of guilt, self-blame, and ego reinforcement.

In the Futuhat al-Makkiyya and his teachings on tawba (chapters 74–75), Ibn Arabi explains that true tawbah is a "return" to one's divine origin, far beyond surface-level sorrow. The shame spiral arises when the nafs (lower self) clings to its false identity: "I am the sinner," "I am unworthy," feeding arrogance disguised as humility and keeping the ego alive through perpetual self-reproach. This is the nafs al-lawwamah (blaming self) stuck in blame without true liberation.

Ibn Arabi teaches that genuine tawbah destroys this illusion by dissolving the separate "I" that feels shame. It involves three key conditions: remorse (nadam) that exposes the ego's fragility, immediate cessation of the sin, and firm resolve never to return yet deeper still, it is a complete turning toward Allah where the servant realizes: "There is no 'I' apart from Him." This fana' (annihilation) of the false self breaks the cycle no more spiraling guilt, because shame requires a separate entity to attach to. What remains is overwhelming divine mercy (Rahma), profound peace, and the heart's opening to perpetual renewal in tawhid.

Instead of polishing the ego with endless "I'm sorry," true tawbah erases it, transforming shame into witness of Allah's boundless forgiveness. Believers often experience release from inner torment, clearer intuition, effortless avoidance of past patterns, and a sense of divine nearness that makes old spirals impossible.

If you're struggling with guilt loops, self-condemnation, or seeking Sufi insights on tawbah, nafs purification, ego dissolution, or Ibn Arabi's path to liberation through return to the Real, this video is for you.
