I’m part of the Gen X–Millennial cusp — a generation that largely raised itself while our parents worked and survival came first.
In this video, I talk about realizing how deeply that shaped me: hyper-independence, doing everything alone, never asking for help, and not even questioning it. It took a small moment of being noticed at church and called out on it, for the light to turn on — and I’m reflecting on what happens when survival patterns follow us into adulthood.
This isn’t about blame. It’s about awareness, compassion, and recognizing when coping mechanisms stop serving us.
