Last night, I clapped on my doorstep and heard the echoes of gratitude ringing up and down the valley. I clapped the NHS staff for for the inspirational courage in the face of this crazy situation we find ourselves in right now. I clapped them for their tireless work over the past few weeks, and the ones to come. And I also them clapped for our friend Charlie.
A twinkly-eyed charmer to the end, one of the last times I saw Charles he pulled out some cash and asked us to buy a box of cakes for the nurses to say thank you for all they were doing for him, under increasingly hard conditions. Yesterday marked a year since we lost him. But in Charlie-fashion, he still managed to bring us together - sharing photos and stories and laughter and tears - and I made this little video in his memory. He really was no ordinary bey.
