Описание: In this video, I am going to walk through a full list of the most common Ryzen and Intel CPUs found in Laptops today. I will also include the latest Ryzen 4000 series in this comparison video. Although a variety of these laptops have yet to hit the mainstream market we still have enough data to make some educated comparisons. This video is specifically for creative professionals looking for a laptop for video editing, graphic design, photography related skillsets.

Background/the History of Intel and AMD Ryzen Processors

Intel has historically held the crown for Laptop processors for as long as I can remember. My first MacBook Unibody had an Intel processor. My first MacBook Pro had an Intel processor. And my current Dell XPS 15 has an Intel processor.

They have made some substantial improvements over the past decade, but more recently the improvements have started to lag which I believe has cracked the door for AMD to slip in and disrupt the establishment. And let me tell you they are on the verge of doing just that.

With the launch of their Ryzen mobile processors in 2017, they started to make a ruckus, but Intel seemed generally unconcerned, the evidence of this seen in their complete apathy towards hunkering down and making some big performance improvements as we saw from 2010 to 2015.

Up until the Ryzen 4000 series, which we are about to discuss, the 2019 Ryzen 3700U was only 5% better performance than the 2015 Macbook Pro with the i7-4980HQ.

The current State of Ryzen Vs Intel Processors
Now that Ryzen 4000 has officially released for the laptop space I thought this would be the perfect time to launch this video. I have spent the past two months correlating data and watching the market to see what is available and what CPUs are currently hitting the best performance metrics at various price points.

With the release of Ryzen 4000 I must say I am really impressed by the performance we are seeing out of their new processors. But I have my reservations about casting my full recommendations on these processors and I will talk about that coming up later in the video.

Before we get into laying out a chart for the best use cases for certain Intel and Ryzen processors I am going to walk you through the numbering of the most common processors available within the current laptops on the market. This will help you understand what all of the gibberish means, and then equip you to make an educated purchase.

Intel Processor Numbering and Lettering:
i3 = Everyday tasks, browsing, and long battery life
i5 = Business, design, plus light video and photo editing.
i7 = Workflow, heavy design tasks, basic 3D animation, plus moderate to advanced video and photo editing.
i9 = Highest level of performance: 6k+ video editing, advanced 3D animation, and more

Ryzen Processor Numbering and Lettering:
Ryzen 3 = Everyday tasks, browsing, and long battery life
Ryzen 5 = Business, design, plus light video and photo editing.
Ryzen 7 = Workflow, heavy design tasks, basic 3D animation, plus moderate to advanced video and photo editing.
Ryzen 9 = Highest level of performance: 6k+ video editing, advanced 3D animation, and more

Processors for basic Designing and photo editing
This category of processors is best suited for using one design or photo editing program at a time. If you open multiple design programs, web browser windows, and a music player you will see a decrease in speed and performance of these laptops. Albeit these are great budget CPUs they will have their limitations.

Processors for designing, moderate photo editing, and basic video editing
These processors will perform very well while running multiple design programs, web browsing, moderate photo editing, and some light video editing (such as 1080p and basic 4k projects). These CPUs are great for someone on a medium budget.

Processors for intensive designing, photo editing and manipulation, 3D animation, and high-quality video editing 4k and some 6k.
These processors are built to handle the heavy load that creators will put on a CPU. Now some of the processors in the lower end of this category are not suitable for heavy 4k or 6k video editing. I would say the lower end can handle 4k pretty well with the higher end crushing it and taking a solid hack at 6k footage. 3D animation is also something that these processors will handle well. As far as graphic design is concerned you will have ZERO issues running various design programs at the same time. And photo editing? Yeah, you’re all set with that as well.
