Today I want to talk to you about who is responsible for compensating you for your suffered injuries from a hit and run motor vehicle accident. It happens all the time. You're driving in a car, driver hits you, causes the accident and then drives away and flees the scene.

This, of course, is called a hit and run accident. And most persons who suffer injuries from a hit and run accident usually don't know what to do. Under Maryland law. when you, when somebody is involved in a hit and run accident and suffer severe injuries, they can bring what is called an uninsured motorist claim through their own insurance company.
What happens when you bring this type of claim? If you bring an uninsured motorist claim for a hit and run accident, your own insurance company steps into the shoes and defends the claim as if the other driver, the at-fault driver who fled the scene, can be identified and had their own insurance coverage for themself.

It's important to note here, if you bring this type of claim, your insurance rates will not go up. This is what you pay for in case of a situation where a driver doesn't have insurance or in a case like this, it was a hit and run and the other driver cannot be identified.
