Why The Last Jedi is actually amazing (in-depth analysis of symbolism and themes)

Описание: In the weeks since its release, The Last Jedi has received an unrelenting assault of backlash and vitriol from both hardcore fans and members of the general movie going audience. In this in-depth analysis, I'll detail some of the reasons why I feel this film was one of the best in the entire series and completely true to the core spirit of the original trilogy.

This breakdown will include analysis of how The Last Jedi remains true to the mythological origins of the original trilogy, the visual story telling of metaphor and symbolism, how the original trilogy was not overly concerned with plot structure or a sophisticated narrative but was rather a character driven, visually metaphorical exploration of mythology in a modern context and how The Last Jedi manages to reflect this by commenting meta-textually on Star Wars itself and the place it holds in our culture in reality as well as how some of these themes connect to the narrative in an in-universe, canonical lore perspective.

This is not a debate video, or a generalized response video to anything other than my own opinion and reasons why I love the film and think it is a wonderful edition to the Star Wars legacy for a multitude of reasons. I don't think anyone holding a negative opinion of this film is justified but I just wanted to use the visual medium of Youtube to express why I feel justified in loving it and I hope this can help bridge the gap between the polarized subsets of the fandom.
