LEAP Texas Assessment Collaborative: IRB or Institutional Approval

Описание: This webinar discusses issues related to the protection of human participants in research when sampling student course-embedded work in order to assess student attainment of learning outcomes. The first segment describes how the Texas Assessment Collaborative project design is intended to accommodate IRB and FERPA concerns. The second segment provides an overview of federal requirements for the protection of human participants in research and institutional review boards. Third, the webinar discusses FERPA concerns related to this inter-institutional assessment project. The final two sections provide provide guidance for institutions participating in the Texas Assessment Collaborative project and explore IRB-related concerns for local institutions conducting LEAP VALUE-based assessment of general education outcomes and the Texas Core Objectives. Any institution sampling student work to be assessed against learning outcomes may have interest in this webinar in order to inform local practices regarding research compliance issues; institutions participating in the Texas Assessment Collaborative project are encouraged to attend and required to respond to requirements.
