Описание: In November 2013, 15-year-old Haley Smith was struck and killed in a hit-and-run while walking with friends in St. Augustine, Florida, a case that went unsolved for years until investigators linked paint fragments from the scene to a pickup truck connected to 29-year-old Tiffany Higginbotham. After reopening the case and reviewing forensic evidence, witness information, and the truck’s ownership records, detectives identified Higginbotham as the driver who fled the scene the night Haley was hit. She was later arrested while already incarcerated on unrelated charges and ultimately pleaded to the offense, receiving a 17-year prison sentence for her role in Haley’s death. Haley’s family also filed a civil wrongful-death lawsuit against Higginbotham and the truck’s owner, though no publicly documented outcome of the suit has been reported.
