The Basel Convention focuses on hazardous wastes. It protects people and ecosystems by regulating and restricting the crossborder movement of hazardous waste.

The Rotterdam Convention addresses risks arising from the international trade of hazardous chemicals and pesticides. It ensures that countries receive adequate information about their hazards before deciding whether to import them.

The Stockholm Convention targets the most dangerous pollutants known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs). These chemicals remain in the environment for long periods, accumulate in human and animal tissues, and travel long distances.

Together, the three BRS Conventions form a comprehensive global framework that reduces chemical pollution, prevents toxic exposure, and supports safer, more sustainable management of chemicals and wastes worldwide.

This video is a compilation of successes which have been achieved under the three conventions, and include combatting illegal traffic under the Basel Convention, strengthening implementation under the Rotterdam Convention, and restrictions of the use of DDT under the Stockholm Convention.
