Описание: In this installment of the Leadership Dialogue Series, the GSA Early Career Scientists Community and Membership Engagement Subcommittee spoke with Tracy Johnson, professor of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and Keith and Cecilia Terasaki Presidential Endowed Chair in the Life Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In September 2020, she was named Dean of the UCLA Division of Life Sciences. While at UCLA, Tracy developed the UCLA-HHMI Pathways to Success Program, which provides students with an authentic research experience early in their academic careers. Tracy is also a former professor at Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Tracy served as GSA President in 2023. In this segment of the Leadership Dialogue Series, Tracy reflects on the urgent challenges and opportunities shaping today’s scientific enterprise, highlighting the critical importance of international collaborations. She shares her vision for scientific leaders to sustain curiosity-driven research and to build supportive communities. Drawing on her experience via her numerous leadership roles, Tracy's insightful responses during this interview offer a forward-looking perspective on how scientists can navigate complexity.
