Advocate Russel Joy is an Indian legal practitioner, social activist, and politician from Kerala. He is best known for his rigorous legal activism regarding the Mullaperiyar Dam safety issue, as well as his foray into national politics during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Mullaperiyar Dam Litigation: He gained prominent public recognition as the main petitioner in critical public interest cases filed in the Supreme Court of India (Russel Joy v. Union of India). He requested the apex court to intervene regarding the structural safety, longevity, and eventual decommissioning of the ageing Mullaperiyar Dam, emphasizing the threat posed to four crore people living downstream in Kerala.

Experience: He has over 22 years of experience as a legal practitioner. His educational background includes a BA.LL.B degree from Vaikunta Baliga College of Law in Udupi.
