Interestingly, the tags in the movie do not actually conform to the US Navy Dog Tag specifications from that era (i.e. Debossed instead of Embossed, 3 lines instead of 5, missing USN, missing religion, and the mysterious N number). These may have been oversights by the props dept or a specific decision by the production team.
