India’s Digital Address System is here.

Описание: Most map locations do not point to the precise spot. They often mark a broader area such as an entire building, a nearby lane, or the wrong entrance. As a result, even when you share your location, people usually arrive “somewhere close” instead of exactly where you are.

India now has a solution for this called Digipin. It is a digital addressing system built using ISRO’s grid technology, where every 4x4 metre area across the country is assigned a unique 10-character digital address. Your GPS coordinates are identified within a grid, and that grid is converted into a Digipin. This code is linked to the place itself, which means it remains accurate even when you are not physically at that location.

Once created, you can share it with anyone, and they can open it directly on Google Maps to reach the exact 4x4 metre point without confusion.

Since Digipin is open source, cab services, delivery applications, and logistics platforms can integrate it in the future, making navigation across the country significantly more precise and reliable.
