Hey Ya’ll Brandon Hewitt here with Brandom Fishing and I have a good one for you today! I went into Austin today to take my dog to the vet. She is fine, just a general checkup and teeth cleaning. I had some time to kill so I went to BassPro shops and picked up a new lure!

I have been wanting to fish more with the chatterbait ever since my trip to Michigan was so productive with one. It is cold out and I was going to be pond hopping so I wanted to downsize the bait. I found a white chatterbait micro and a couple different trailer options that I wanted to try.

I used fishbrain to find some spots and it was not good. The first two spots were unfishable… I almost went to JAIL. I got escorted off of a quarry where they were mining for rocks. I have never seen such a huge dump truck up close like that! The guy who said I could not be there was really nice though and escorted me off the property without any hassle. The second spot I drove up to had signs up so I didn't risk it.

The third spot was a huge pond named Meadow Lake just North of Austin. I could see it was heavily fished because it was a Wednesday and there were people out there fishing already. I didn't have any expectations seeing that it was muddy and it was cold out, but I thought I might get a couple dinks. I fished around and hooked into the biggest bass that I caught all year. Its mouth was not huge but it was really heavy. The pics don't do it justice.

I almost lost this fish because my drag was too tight and I almost straitened out the hook on this little chatterbait. It was the first fish that I caught on my new SLX DC so I was super stoked about that. I hope y'all enjoyed!
