Описание: More senior citizens in India are choosing to make 'living wills'. These are legal documents that give them the power to decide what medical treatment they want or don’t want if they can’t speak for themselves later. This became legal in 2018, after a Supreme Court ruling that allowed passive euthanasia. Still, many don’t know about it or find the process confusing. The attempts to truly make living wills a reality was in a large part due to the activism of Dr Nikhil Datar, who filed a public interest litigation in the Bombay High Court. Now Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai has started India’s first living will clinic, where people can get guidance, write their documents, and get them officially recorded. The idea is to give people more control over how they are treated in serious illness or at the end of life.
