Recorded at Oakdene School, Beaconsfield in July 1989 by Carl Browning, who helped found the National Youth Choir of Great Britain with Michael Brewer (conducting) in 1983.
Concert pianist: Stephen Gosling
Jazz Singer: Sue Christie
The choir had spent nearly a week living and rehearsing in the boarding school prior to giving a concert in the Barbican Theatre, London, with the internationally acclaimed King Singers, one of whom had been a former member of the National Youth Choir.
During the week in Beaconsfield the choir rehearsed every day but in the evening we were allowed to descend on the local town, which basically involved frequenting the local wine bar. The concert was to thank the townsfolk of Beaconsfield for putting up with us, and an apology for drinking the place dry.
