Описание: Joshua Moore had a bad fall from Gleno in the Rising Sun Veterans Handicap Chase at Haydock Park on 23 April 2022. The former jockey broke his femur but initially the prognosis wasn't too bad, yet things rapidly changed that night in hospital.

After coming up in a funny rash, Moore says he 'shut down' overnight and doctors didn't know what was happening.

He had re-opened an old veterbrae fracture in his back and all of his body swelled up, while Moore fell into a coma and was put on a ventilator.

It was only by chance that a former army doctor was on duty that evening who suspected that, from the major traumas he has previously dealt with, d suspected that this might be a case of fat embolism syndrome - a potentially life-threatening complication, primarily associated with long bone fractures, where fat globules enter the bloodstream and cause systemic dysfunction. Essentially, where the bone marrow leaks into the bloodstream.

Moore spent four months at Aintree Hospital, followed by another four months in Haywards Heath and then four weeks after that at the Wellington in London.
